The Boy Scouts of America are loaning approximately 140 American flags to Ogden city. The Flags will temporarily replace the olympic flags in dowtown Ogden beginning Tuesday, September 25, 2001. Lyle Elmore, District Executive of the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America notified the mayor last week saying, “I think we have a solution to the problem of city budget restraints and the inability to purchase flags. We will pool our resources and I think we can come up with enough flags to replace all of the existing olympic flags in the downtown are.” The flags will be flown at least through Columbus Day. Mr. Elmore and Phillip Eborn, District Executives of Traper Trails Council, in conjunction with David Wayman, Institutional Head for Troop 525, and Scoutmaster Mike Soucie and Assistant Scoutmaster Kurtis Murray of Troop 83 coordinated this effort as a service project for local Boy Scouts.
