The Utah National Parks Council has announced that it is the recipient of a three-year, $101,400 Daniels Fund grant. This grant, in support of the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program, will go directly to fund an in-school program, serving students K-12 in the San Juan School District.

Seventeen (17) Salem area mayors competed in a rousing pinewood derby race for the purpose of promoting the Cascade Pacific Council, Boy Scouts of America Fun At Every Turn Cub Scout membership campaign. The following Salem Police Officers assisted with the race: Laura Seefelt, Dave Driscoll, Sanford Groat, Chad Basaraba, Clem Spenner, and Geoff Shipley. DARE instructor and senior officer Dave Driscoll also served as Master of Ceremonies. The Salem pinewood derby event was held on September 4 at the State Capital Building.
