Newly Trained BSA Lifeguard Saves Man

Quick instinct and BSA Lifeguard training the week before gave 13 year old Life Scout Thomas Ruggiero the ability to save 75 year-old Dick Antill at East Matunuck Beach in Narragansett, R.I.

Glacier’s Edge Council

Glacier’s Edge Council was the name selected by the merging Four Lakes and Sinnissippi Councils. According to a letter released on the consolidation website today this name was also the winner of the opinion poll with 40% of the vote. Also according to the letter a new Scout Executive should be selected by October 1st.

Soldier and Scout killed by roadside bomb

There is a close tie between soldiers and the Boy Scouts. You’ll see a lot of Scouts volunteer to protect their country, unfortunetly as soldiers loose their lives we hear of Scouts not making it home.

Army Specialist Brian Derks a dedicated soldier and dedicated Scout was killed, on August 13th, by a roadside bomb.
