The Albert Lea Tribune Newspaper had a short feature about five lifelong friends who credit their friendship and life achievement to the Scouting program.

They met in Boy Scouts — some were eager, young Scouts; the others, more-experienced Scoutmasters.

But during the next 69 years, under that same umbrella of the Boy Scouts of America, the five became lifelong friends, unified later as Eagle Scouts.

Made up of Don Wedge, Bill Sturtz, Harry Neel, Earl Jacobsen and Dan Schoeneman — a retired gardener, judge, physician, teacher and dentist — the group all agreed that without the Boy Scouts program, their lives would have been drastically different.
