Schoolmates To Honor Deceased Scout Tomorrow

Posted on 04 September 2008 by Dan

Students of Cherokee High School will dress in their Boy Scout uniforms and those who are not Boy Scouts will wear green in honor of Sean Whitley tomorrow.

Sean Whitley was one of three Boy Scouts who were burned at Joseph A. Citta Boy Scout Reservation in Waretown, New Jersey over the summer. Whitley served on the camp’s staff with his brother. Authorities stated that Whitley received second and third degree burns when an 18 year-old staff member attempted a “ring of fire” demonstration. Whitley died four days later at the hospital where he was receiving treatment for his extensive burns.
