Scouts from Southeast Wisconsin Council Participate in Disaster Drill

Posted on 03 December 2008 by Dan

Troop 385 participated in a disaster exercise with Paris Fire Department on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.

The premise for the exercise was that a set of bleachers collapsed and a mass casualty situation was setup. Over 40 patients and many of the local fire departments responded, including several from Illinois.

Scouts had a great time acting as victims! They learned a lot watching the EMS workers do their job. This was an important event, not only for Scouts to learn something, but also to help local fire departments train for the possibility of a major emergency.

Please remember, this was ONLY an exercise! The make-up was set up by fire department trainers. No Scouts were injured during this exercise, although by the acting job of the Scouts, you almost forgot that!
