Troop 150, located in the Village of Deerfield, Illinois is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Troop 150, chartered by the Zion Lutheran Church in Deerfeild, was chartered in 1958 by Vern Swanson, and is part of the Northeast Illinois Council, Boy Scouts of America.
On November 8th, 2008, the Village of Deerfield presented the Scouts and Leaders of Troop with a proclamation recognizing them for providing area youth with the many worthwhile activities for the past 50 years.
WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop #150 was founded in Deerfield in 1958 to pursue and promote the positive development of youth to the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America; andWHEREAS, it is recognized that the Boy Scouts of America actively prepares its members to be good citizens throughout life; and
WHEREAS, long-serving Village Trustee Vern Swanson was instrumental in the founding of Boy Scout Troop #150; and
WHEREAS Boy Scout Troop #150 has conducted many worthwhile activities and events benefiting the Deerfield Community and beyond throughout its history; and
WHEREAS, current and former members of Boy Scout Troop #150 are to be commended for their positive impact on the Village of Deerfield since its founding in 1958.
NOW, THEREFORE, I STEVEN M. HARRIS, Mayor of the Village of Deerfield, do hereby recognize and congratulate Deerfield Boy Scout Troop #150 on its 50th Anniversary.

To commemorate the occasion, Troop members and their families planted a tree on their charted organization’s property and conducted a day of service at the church, followed by a cookout and campfire. You can view pictures of the Troop’s service day on their website’s photo album.
