Holiday Mail for Heroes Surpasses Goal

Posted on 07 January 2009 by Dan

Back in November Scouting News introduced you to the Holiday Mail for Heroes program.

The American Red Cross is partnering with Pitney Bowes this holiday season for the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign. For the second year in a row, they are collecting holiday cards to distribute to American service members, veterans and their families in the United States and around the world. Pitney Bowes is generously donating technology, resources and postage to make this holiday card program possible.

Their goal for 2008 was to collect and distribute one million holiday cards to spread holiday cheer and facilitate thanks to these brave individuals and families.

According to my contact, the Holiday Mail for Heroes program was a huge success. America responded to the call to action and they were able to surpass their goal of 1 million cards and ended up delivering 1,440,000 holiday cards to America’s service men and women, veterans, and their families!

Thank you to everyone who helped the Holiday Mail for Heroes program surpass their goal and helped spread some holiday cheer to those that serve or have served their country! If you missed the 2008 program, look for it in 2009!
