Greg's Fish ShackGreg’s Fish Shack was dedicated at Ingersoll Scout Reservation during a ceremony witnessed by more than 100 Scouts, Scouters, and friends and family of Greg Tripp.

Greg, an Eagle Scout and ScoutReach Executive on the W.D. Boyce Council staff, tragically passed away in 2003 from a brain aneurysm on Thanksgiving Day, but the legacy he left behind is surely remembered by those lives he touched. A group of 60-plus ScoutReach youth and leaders were on hand for the dedication, and while only a few of them knew Greg, the message presented by those who did know him were thoughts of Greg’s passion for kids, life, friends, family, and of course, fishing.

Following an opening welcome by Scout Executive George Clay and recognition of volunteers who contributed to work on the project by ISR Ranger Kevin Walsh, Scout Reach volunteer Todd Baker shared some remarks and anecdotes about his experiences with Greg and Scouting. Former W.D. Boyce Council Scout Executive, now Central Region Area Director, Fred Wallace and his wife Kelly, Greg’s sister, shared their appreciation with the crowd on behalf of the family.

Also celebrating Greg’s legacy, included family friend, Frank LaFoon, who also served as Greg’s former Scoutmaster, and former Council staff members who had the privilege of working with Greg. Traveling across states for the dedication included Dan Busby, Rob Hemmelgran, Michael Lane, Paul Wilkinson, Greg Brownfield, and current WDB Council Finance Director Mike Fifhause. Members from Wenasa Quenhotan Lodge, Order of the Arrow, were also present and assistant in preparations for the dedication as the weekend served as the Spring Conclave.

The Tripp family thanks those who were able to attend and hopes that Greg’s Fish Shack will bring many wonderful memories to those who use it for many years to come.
