2010 National Jamboree Personalized Medical Forms Delayed

The National Jamboree Medical Team has notified participants and staff members that the personalized, bar-coded medical records for the Jamboree have been delayed. (It was unclear if participants recieved an email directly, or if the Council’s were notified. All staff members should have recieved, or will be shortly, the below message.

The Jamboree team is working with our contractor to expedite delivery of your personalized, bar coded medical record for the Jamboree. Deployment was scheduled to begin on July 27th. We are working with the contractor to provide an enhanced medical record to insure that the information you provide is readable by the medical service team. We feel that a slight delay to make this the “BEST, most EXCITING, FUN-FILLED, SAFEST, jamboree EVER!” is worth a short delay.

Once the records begin to go out it is expected that the distribution will take several weeks. If you have an expectation that you will receive your medical form immediately, please understand that the email will be coming. We do not recommend scheduling a medical exam prior to the arrival of your personalized record. Due to the large number of medicals, they will not all go out at one time. The system will send out a duplicate if you have not turned in your record starting during the holidays.

Should you contact jamboree.medical@scouting.org for any reason, we appreciate your patience with the delay you will experience in receiving a reply. All of our resources are currently dedicated to the delivery of the Jamboree medicals. Most questions can be answered quickly by visiting www.bsajamboree.org and selecting “Be Prepared”. As more information is available, it will be posted on the website.

Thank You,
Jamboree Medical Team

Additional Jamboree medical information can be found under the Be Prepared section of the 2010 Boy Scout Jamboree website.

My son’s current physical will expire before Jamboree. Our insurance will not allow for him to get another until June 15, 2010. My understanding from our Scoutmaster, all medical forms must be submitted by January 2010. May I attach the physical( part B) which I currently have and later bring the paperwork showing the physical from June 2010? If this is unacceptable could you offer another suggestion? It would cost $200 out of pocket to have another physical at this time.
