The online application process for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree has be suspended until Tuesday, July 1. The Jamboree Division of the National Council released this statement:
While we have experienced success with applications received to date, issues have been identified and suggestions made as to how to improve the system and make it much more robust.
The decision to suspend the registration process will allow the development work, quality assurance testing, and changes to documentation to be completed in the next three weeks.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

The Chicago Area Council was asked to form an Eagle Scout Honor Guard for the Steve Fossett Memorial Service. The Fossett Family asked for the Honor Guard for the Memorial Service to be held April 22, 3:30pm at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago.
According to the Chicago Area Council website, the Honor Guard, consisting of twelve Eagle Scouts, will escort prominent guests and stand in honor at the service.
If you know an Eagle Scout in the Chicago Area Council, who might be interested in being considered for the Honor Guard, please
point them to the Steve Fossett Memorial Honor Guard information page. All Honor Guard members must be in full Boy Scout uniform. All applications must be received in the Chicago Area Council Service Center by April 1.

We’ve been hearing rumors that the BSA has been looking for a different site for the Jamboree for a few years now. These rumors had started picking up again, with information that 2010 will be the last Jamboree held at Ft. A.P. Hill. I have yet to find anything official in writing, but Roy More posted a fairly email from a fairly reliable source on his Scout Patch Auction blog
I can officially tell you that the rumors you have heard are true. The 2010 National Jamboree will be the last one to be held at Fort A.P. Hill. There is a committee of volunteers that has been appointed by Rick Cronk, the National President, to find a permanent home for the National Jamboree that will be owned by the BSA. They are currently looking at many properties. Read the rest of the post.
If you have Scouts that want to go to the Hill they better sign up fast! Most Councils have already started accepting applications, and some have already filled their expected slots.
