How Scouts around the US are celebrating Thanksgiving this year:

Gilbert Boy Scouts to roast 160 turkeys
The Thanksgiving tradition for Troop 830, based out of the Maplewood Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, began more than 30 years ago, Day said. The troop uses donations from the event to fund activities and buy gear.

Boy Scout gets a clean start on Thanksgiving
The members of Troop 10 are getting tired. They have been working hard for two hours transporting 261 kits filled with soap, laundry detergent, a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and body lotion into vans and then into the South Brunswick Food Pantry at the Municipal Building.

Lebanon Boy Scouts present Thanksgiving donations to town
The Lebanon Boy Scout Pack 369 presented Selectman Jason Cole with three large boxes of donated food and cash for the Lebanon Town Hall Food Drive at their regular meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19th.

Citizens, Boy Scouts, Salvation Army provide Thanksgiving turkeys
This year, Boy Scout Troops 155, 395, 83 and 374 intend to break that record. They are targeting a collection of 250 turkeys per troop, for a total of 1,000 holiday birds.

Scouts bringing Thanksgiving help to those in need
The Cub Scouts of New Waverly gave several area families something to look forward to this Thanksgiving. The scouts — approximately 14 boys in grades one through three — raised about $1,000 through fundraisers recently for Thanksgiving food packages.

Groups offering free coffee for travelers

Interstate 81 southbound at Nuangola between the Nuangola exit 159 and the Dorrance exit 155. Boy Scout Troop 207 will be there on Wednesday and Friday for 24 hours each day, while members of the Civil Air Patrol will be there on Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Servant’s Heart prepares for Turkey Drive-Thru
Seventy-five people assembled the food boxes on the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving at Boone’s home church. Whole families, Boy Scouts and individual volunteers rapidly filled the 300 boxes in less than an hour at Grace Evangelical Church on Southport Road. Now in their sixth year, Boone and his team have an effective system in place.
