Assistant Scoutmaster Awarded Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal

Sergeant Major Vern Wilfinger was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for his volunteer service to the civilian community while serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 27 in East Peoria.

Sergeant Major Wilfinger has been a member of Troop 27 since April 1999. As an Assistant Scoutmaster, Vern has been in charge of numerous camp outs, summer camps and high adventure activities. Vern is also a merit badge counselor and is a Silver Beaver Recipient.

Vern never refuses to help out a Scout, and his dedication is shown through his receiving of 10 Eagle Scout mentor pins.

It is with great honor that the Pentagon awarded Sergeant Major Vern Wilfinger the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Sergeant Major Wilfinger’s exemplary service reflects great credit upon him, the 33rd Military Police Battalion, and the Unites States Army National Guard.
