Photo Friday: Introducing Brandon Queen

Photo Friday
We recognize that our audience has an interest in photography to capture special moments such as Courts of Honors, campouts, winter activities, family vacations, sport events, and other gatherings. “Photo Friday” is intended to help photography amateurs improve their photo shoots through photo tips, which may include basic skills, creative shooting techniques, and proper care and maintenance. Tips in this section are written by amateurs, professional photographers, and by other contributors. We hope that you find these tips useful in your Scouting program.

ScoutingNews is proud to present Brandon Michael Queen as the newest contributing writer for Photo Friday Tips. Brandon is an Eagle Scout and the founder of Brandon Queen Photography in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He had a particular interest in photography at a young age. But it wasn’t until his high school years in yearbook when his interest was brought into focus as a serious pursuit.

After serving on yearbook staff, Brandon was fortunate enough to start his own business in photography and began shooting senior photos for his friends. He developed a profound love for wildlife, portrait, architectural, monumental, and nature photography among many other photography techniques! Entirely self-taught and still learning, he now uses a Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR, which he will use to capture pictures for illustrations.

“My whole philosophy revolves around the desire to create images that not only look like you — but also truly are the essence of you.” His style of photography is capturing relaxed expressions that are true! Brandon can help you capture your most prestigious moments to instill those memories for a lifetime.

In the coming weeks ahead, Brandon will be giving you tips from his own lesson plan that will enable you to take photos like the pros for your troop, crew, ship, varsity or pack’s history records.

Brandon will begin his first lesson on Friday, February  3, 2012. So be sure to visit ScoutingNews every Friday to learn more photo tips from Brandon Queen.
