Cornhusker Council Scout Executive Promoted

Cornhusker Council President, Bob Morrow, announced the promotion of the Cornhusker Scout Executive

It is with both pride and sadness that I announce the promotion of our Scout Executive, Mike Hale, to Associate Regional Director of Program for the Central Region. Mike will be responsible for supporting the programs of camping, activities, advancement, venturing and training for 80 councils in the Central Region. Mike, Lynda, and the family will be relocating to the Chicago area. Mike begins his new assignment on August 17th.

We certainly want to wish Mike, Lynda, Nicole, and Briana the very best as they begin this new chapter in their lives. We want to thank Mike for his 4 years of dedicated service as Scout Executive and 10 years of service overall to the Cornhusker Council.

We have already begun the process of selecting a new Scout Executive and I will keep you posted on the progress.

2009 National Order of the Arrow Officers Elected

The National Order of the Arrow (OA) Planning meeting is currently taking place down in Dallas, Texas (TX). Part of the meeting is the election of the 2009 National Officers. These young men will represent the Order of the Arrow across the country for the next year, and will have an integral part of running the 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) and planning the OA’s presence at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree.

Here are the 2009 election results coming out of Dallas:

Jack O\'Neill - 2009 National OA Chief2009 National Chief: Jack O’Neill
Jack O’Neill is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member from Columbia, Missouri.

Jack is a member of the Shawnee Lodge #51, Greater St Louis Area Council and has recently served as Section C-5C Chief.

According to the Central Region Order of the Arrow website, Jack enjoys playing tennis, listening to music, camping, hanging out with friends, flag football, working on camp staff, working out, and playing basketball.

Dan Higham - 2009 OA National Vice Chief2009 National Vice Chief: Dan Higham
Dan Higham is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member from Vestal, New York in the Northeast Region.

Dan is a member of the Otahnagon Lodge, Baden Powell Council and has recently served as Section NE-3A Chief.

According to the Northeast Region Order of the Arrow website, Dan is attending Oswego State University majoring in Human Resource Management. Dan served on the national program committee to develop the program for Arrowcorps5 as well as being the Youth program director at the Shasta-Trinity site. Dan enjoys basketball, working out, golf, relaxing, and fishing.

Michael Beckman has been elected the 2009 Central Region Chief. Michael is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of Kuh-Ni-Eh Lodge, Dan Beard Council. You can learn more about Michael on the Central Region Order of the Arrow website.

2009 Northeast Region Chief: Ryan Hay
Ryan Hay has been elected the 2009 Northeast Region Chief. Ryan is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of Witauchsoman Lodge #44, Minsi Trails Council. You can learn more about Ryan on the Northeast Region Order of the Arrow Website.

2009 Southern Region Chief: Mark Norris

2009 Western Region Chief: David Harrell

Central Region Appoints Interim Chicago Area Council Scout Executive

Following the retirement of Jim Stone, Chicago Area Council Scout Executive, the Central Region with concurrence of the Chicago Area Council Executive Board, has chosen to delay the selection of a new Scout Executive for an undetermined period.

Mr. Dobbins will function in all aspects of a selected, locally employed Scout Executive, for this unspecified period of time. The appointment of Dobbins was announced in a memo to Central Region Scout Executives from Regional Director Bradley Farmer.

Dobbins has served as Associate Regional Director of Endowment since April of 2005. His prior professional positions include: Director of Development, Director of Finance Service, and District Executive in Indianapolis, Scout Executive in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Madison, Wisconsin.
