Scout Law Essay Contest

Announcing a Terrific Opportunity for Scouting Youth

A Scout Is … has set up an essay contest that hopes to encourage scouts to look at their own lives and those of their fellow scouts. The essays focus on the living of the Scout Law and living Lives of Service. The essay contest was started as a way to remember Nigel Clarke, who died last Halloween at the age of 15. Nigel was a star scout who lived the Scout Law in his daily life. As part of his memorial service, his father answered the question for his son, “How have you lived the Scout Law since you last Scoutmaster Conference?”

The flier below introduces the essay contest and directs scouts to the http://www.ascoutis.org/ web site.

An endowment has been created to provide prizes for the best essays in each of three categories. Boys and girls from your council are welcome to join the general contest.

If you would like to sponsor the contest within your council, you can send $500 to the Endowment and three first place winners and five runner up winners will be selected from your council. For more information on becoming a sponsor visit http://ascoutis.org/contest_sponsors.php.

The deadline for this year’s contest is three days away, however if you can’t enter this year – it is an annual event.
